Now renamed to "Music Deep Dive" in English, 深樂食堂 consists of Howard, Gordon, Jubilee, and Wendy, four high school/college friends from Taipei, New York City, and Singapore who played music together in the past and now decide to share their shared passion for music, culture, education, and current events in the form of podcast.
Inspired by founders Jeffrey Hsueh and Howard Ouyang's past experiences in jamming, where musicians communicate complex ideas spontaneously with only sounds, this new series features in every episode a short improvised piece of music in relation to a cultural, social, or political issue in Taiwan and other parts of the Mandarin-speaking world. The goal is to render more accessible abstruse and mutually opposing ideas by packing them in the force of music as well as encourage listeners from multiple sides of the aisle to engage in civil discourse and, when doing so, strengthen the democratic framework of our society.
